Personal Tax Filing in Toronto

Individual and family tax returns, prepared with you face to face by Danny Ribeiro, Certified Tax Practitioner. Bring your slips and receipts, and leave knowing your return is done right.

Who it’s for

Tax season doesn’t have to be stressful. I prepare personal returns for:

  • employees with T4 slips who want it done right, without guessing
  • families with children, childcare costs or a spouse to file with
  • seniors receiving pension and Old Age Security income
  • students claiming tuition
  • anyone who has fallen behind and needs to catch up on past years

We sit down together, go through your situation, and I make sure you claim what you’re entitled to.

What’s included

  • Preparing and filing your individual (T1) return with the CRA
  • Returns for your spouse or common-law partner, so your household is claimed as a whole
  • Checking for deductions and credits like medical expenses, donations, childcare, tuition and RRSP contributions
  • Checking that you’re set up for benefits like the GST/HST credit, Canada Child Benefit and Ontario Trillium Benefit
  • Help reading your Notice of Assessment when it arrives
  • Catching up on past years you haven’t filed

What to bring

  • All your tax slips, such as T4, T4A, T4A(P), T4A(OAS), T4E, T5 and T3
  • Tuition slips (T2202) and RRSP contribution receipts
  • Receipts for medical expenses, charitable donations and childcare
  • Your rent or property tax amounts, used for the Ontario Trillium Benefit
  • Last year’s Notice of Assessment, if you have it
  • Photo ID

Not sure if something matters? Bring it, and we’ll sort through it together.

Behind on filing?

You’re not the only one, and it’s usually easier to fix than you think. Some clients come to me after years of not filing.

If you’re owed money, you can’t get your refund or benefits like the GST/HST credit and Canada Child Benefit until your returns are filed. If you owe, interest keeps adding up, so it’s better to start now. I’ll work out which years are missing, gather what we need, and file them one at a time.

I let my personal taxes go for about 9 years and didn't know what to do. A couple of years ago I got Danny to helped me get up to date and have been using his services ever since. A+++

Personal tax questions

When is my personal tax return due?

For most people, April 30. If you or your spouse are self-employed, the return is due June 15, but any tax you owe is still due April 30.

I haven’t filed in years. Will I be in trouble?

Filing late is far better than not filing at all. If you’re owed a refund or benefits, filing gets them moving. If you owe, a late-filing penalty and interest may apply, and they grow the longer you wait. I’ll look at what’s missing and help you catch up.

Do I have to come in person?

Most clients meet me at the office, because sitting down together is the fastest way to get things right. If getting to the office is hard for you, call and we’ll talk about what works.

Can you file my spouse’s return too?

Yes. Preparing both returns together makes sure credits and benefits are claimed in the best way for your household.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your situation, like how many slips you have and whether we’re catching up on past years. Call and I’ll give you an idea before we start.
